Our Adopted Charity
Wetherby Orthodontics has adopted Bridge2Aid as its charity. Bridge2Aid work in Mwanza, Tanzania to provide dental care and education to local communities, train local people as health personnel, and operate a not-for-profit dental clinic.
Why are we supporting them? It may be cliched, but it is good to be able to give something back. Despite the current political problems in dentistry in the UK we are well provided for compared to poorer countries. By educating and training local personnel Bridge2Aid can meet the needs of indigenous groups in a long-term and sustainable way.
How are we supporting them? 10% is donated from every hygiene-pack sold to patients who are starting treatment. Packs are included in higher-priced courses of treatment so patients are asked to donate instead. There is a collecting box and information about the charity at the practice. Megan Hatfield is also raising money by running the Leeds 10K Run for All in June. You can visit her fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/megans10K.
